Just sharing the things I’ve found on Ancestry.com and several other genealogy sites. Please let me know of any mistakes.
Using Ancestry.com is fairly easy. A lot of people have already entered data for our family. The problem is, too much of it isn’t correct. People will have 2-3 people as a family member, but they are all the same person. Things like Walter Boyer, Walter P. Boyer and W. Boyer. Calling all 3 as children of an ancestor, but they’re the same person. Other things include, some of our ancestors named their kids Mary. They’ll have 3-4 kids named Mary, but different middle names!!! Or, they’ll have several kids with the same middle name, Mary or something. It can get confusing as hell! The other problem is, they were very prolific in the having children department. 10+ kids is the norm. Some die young, but a lot live into their 80’s.
